इस भव्य और विशिष्ट मंदिर का निर्माण 1025 से 1050 ईस्वी के दौरान हुआ था। जिस परिसर में यह मंदिर स्थित है उसे अपने अलंकृत और अद्‌भुत वास्तुशिल्प के लिए जाना जाता है। इस परिसर का यह सबसे बड़ा मंदिर है। इसकी कलात्मक विशेषता और महत्व का अंदाज़ा इस बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि यहां दो और तीन फ़ुट ऊंची मूर्तियांें की संख्या 872 है और छोटी मूर्तियों की तो कोई गिनती नहीं है। इस मंदिर की ऊंचाई क़रीब 31 मीटर है जिसकी संरचना कैलास पर्वत की चोटी के समान दिखाई देती है। इस मंदिर में शिवलिंग के अलावा देवी-देवताओं की कलात्मक मूर्तियां भी देखने को मिलती हैं। मध्यभारत में वास्तुकला का ऐसा बेजोड़ नमूना कहीं और देखने को नहीं मिलता है।

Kerala: Hindu Royal Family of Travancore to Get Ownership of Padmanabhaswamy Temple

The Supreme Court on Monday restored the right of “Managership or the Shebaitship to the royal family of Travancore but the administration of the temple will be managed by a committee headed by a district judge. 

A bench of Justices ruled in favour of the royal family over right to manage and administer the affairs of one of the richest temples of the world. The family had challenged the order of the Kerala High Court which had held that the royal family could not claim to be in control or management of the temple as successor to the last ruler. The family, however, would not have absolute say in the administration as it agreed before the court to delegate its power to the administrative committee.

Ayodhya: Shivalinga, idols found while levelling temple site

A shivalinga, broken idols and other artefacts were unearthed recently during levelling of the site for a Ram temple, the trust charged with its construction said.

The levelling work using heavy earth moving machinery began on May 11. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust reported that a five-foot shivalinga, seven black touchstone pillars, six red sandstone pillars, a 'flower pinnacle' and four broken idols of gods and goddesses were found.

The trust posted pictures and videos of the artefacts it said were recovered during the levelling process.
